Beauty Haul: Makeup isn't what it used to be.

This year has been super, crazy busy already and we are only in March!! I have already been to 2 birthday parties, a Bridal Shower, a Bachelorette party, and next week a wedding. So when I saw that I had a busy schedule, I decided that I needed to look my absolute best. This included starting a workout routine, dressing up in clothes I normally wouldn’t wear (dresses), and even shaving my legs ABOVE the knee. More importantly, I needed to step up my makeup game. Which meant that I could finally do a beauty haul post!

You see, I grew up in a time where make up was simple and easy. You put on some foundation, a little bit of powder, and then added some basic eye shadow and mascara. You didn’t need to buy a bunch to look nice.

Now though…. NOW you are buying 10 products for just the basic parts of your face! And by basic I mean the areas where you put the foundation on!!! There’s contouring and blending, I mean people actually do shit with their eyebrows now. I have lived through the times where waxing your eyebrows almost completely off was popular. Then you had the time where tattooing them on was popular. THEN threading became the new big trend. Now, It’s the time of the full brow and I don’t have to do shit to them.

Breathes in deep breath…

Back to a tangent free post. Make up isn’t what it used to be folks and it isn’t as cheap as it used to be either…. the life of being a girl. I learned this scary fact when I decided to get rid of all my old, expired makeup and go to a cruelty free make up regime. I found a cool little guide to go buy and started asking my coworker what she uses.

She is hip on the makeup trends, so I knew she wouldn’t steer me in the wrong direction. I stressed that it was important I have products that aren’t tested on animals, because while I’m not a vegan, I don’t believe in animal testing. So, she made me a list of her favorite brands, told me what was better and showed me cheaper options, and even bought me an eyeshadow pallet I liked. After all that, she patted me on the back and sent me on my way to Ulta and here is what I got.
